Xavi Slams Referee After Barcelona's Champions League Exit
Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández was left furious by the referees performance in his teams loss to PSG.
WEB Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujos sending off turned the tide in their Champions League quarter-final as PSG came from 3-2 down.
Xavi has revealed what he told the referee after Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blaugrana were leading 3-2 on aggregate with just over 20 minutes remaining in the second leg at the Parc des Princes when Araujo was sent off for a second bookable offence.
PSG took full advantage of their numerical superiority, scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to win the tie 5-3 on aggregate.
Xavi was furious with the referee's decision to send off Araujo, and he made his feelings known to the official after the game.
"I told the referee that he had made a mistake," Xavi said. "It was a clear foul on Araujo, and he should not have been sent off."
"The referee's decision changed the game," Xavi added. "We were in control of the tie before Araujo was sent off, but after that, PSG took over and we couldn't cope."
Barcelona's exit from the Champions League is a major blow to their hopes of winning a major trophy this season.
The Blaugrana are still in the running for the La Liga title, but they are six points behind leaders Real Madrid with just five games remaining.
Xavi will be hoping that his team can bounce back from their Champions League disappointment and finish the season strongly.
