GIFs Now Officially Pronounced with a "J"

Tenor and GIPHY Settle Pronunciation Debate

Animated GIFs, commonly used in online conversations, are now officially pronounced with a "j". This was announced after a settlement between Tenor and GIPHY, two of the most popular GIF platforms.

In a statement, Tenor said, "We're pleased to announce that we've reached an agreement with GIPHY to resolve the pronunciation debate once and for all. GIFs are now officially pronounced with a soft 'j', like in 'jif'."

GIPHY concurred, saying, "We're happy to put this debate behind us and move forward with a unified pronunciation. We believe that this will help to make GIFs even more accessible and enjoyable for everyone."

The pronunciation debate has been ongoing for years, with proponents of both the "j" and "g" pronunciations citing various reasons for their preference. The settlement between Tenor and GIPHY is expected to put an end to the debate and ensure consistency in pronunciation across the GIF community.
